How to archive a discontinued product

Hide an item you no longer sell from lists and search, without losing its sales history.

A product or service that's ever appeared on an invoice or quotation can't be deleted — that history has to stay for reporting. That's exactly right for something with real sales behind it, but it leaves an obvious gap: what do you do with an item you genuinely don't sell anymore?

Archive instead of delete

Open the product's detail page and click Archive. It immediately disappears from the default product list, the invoice/quotation item picker, and search — without touching a single past invoice or quotation that already references it. Nothing about its history changes; it's just no longer offered for new sales.

Finding it again

Turn on "Show archived" on the Products list to see archived items and Unarchive one if you start carrying it again — archiving is fully reversible.

Why this matters as your catalog grows

Without archiving, a discontinued item just permanently clutters the product list and every search or dropdown, forever. It's a minor annoyance on day one and a real problem after a year of a growing catalog — archiving is the fix.
