Adding custom fields to a customer or supplier

Track whatever actually matters to your business — GST exemption, preferred delivery day, referral source — without waiting on a new WatCoreLite feature to do it.

Before you start

Custom fields are free-text label/value pairs — there's no fixed list to pick from, because every business tracks something different. You decide the label; WatCoreLite just remembers it.

No two businesses run their customer or supplier records exactly the same way. One shop needs to remember which customers are GST-exempt. A distributor wants a preferred delivery day noted against every supplier. A service business tracks how each customer first heard about them. Rather than trying to guess every business's needs in advance, WatCoreLite lets you add exactly the fields you need, on the fly.

Adding a field

On a Customer or Supplier's form, look for Custom fields and click + Add row. Type whatever label makes sense to you — "GST Exemption", "Preferred Delivery Day", "Referral Source" — and its value. Add as many rows as you need, or none at all if you don't use them.

They show up wherever the record does

Saved custom fields appear on the customer or supplier's own page, and on their printed history/statement PDF — right alongside the standard contact details, not buried somewhere separate.

Setting them in bulk

Importing a customer list from a spreadsheet? Any column in your CSV beyond the standard ones (Name, Phone, Email, and so on) automatically becomes a custom field — the column header is the label, the cell is the value. See Importing your customers and products from a spreadsheet for the full CSV import guide.
